Make Your Own Gelatin Gummies
for hair, skin, nail, & gut health

What is gelatin?
Gelatin is a protein derived from collagen that is made up of a uniquely beneficial amino acid profile. If you've ever made bone broth and then stored it in the fridge, you may have noticed a "jiggly" layer in the container. This is gelatin! Gelatin is something our ancestors always consumed when practicing nose to tail eating. It is very nutritious and offers many benefits. Making your own gelatin gummies can be a great way to promote healthy skin, hair and nails instead of spending money on other skin + hair gummies that have additives and vary in effectiveness. It's also super easy and a snack that both kids and adults love! You can get creative with the juice that you use to make different flavors and get different silicon mold shapes like bears or hearts.
Benefits of Gelatin:
✺ Highest food source of the amino acid glycine (one of 3 amino acids that the body uses to make glutathione, an important antioxidant that protects cells against damage)
✺ Promotes sleep because it is filled with glycine. Eat a handful of gummies before bed. (Replace grape juice for tart cherry juice which is high in melatonin to further promote sleep!)
✺ Glycine is also a component of creatine
✺ Supports the body's production of collagen, which in turn, supports gut, joint, skin, and bone health.
✺ The proteins in gelatin can help protect the intestinal wall from damage.
✺ It's a good source of minerals like calcium and magnesium!
I usually use the Perfect Supplements grass fed gelatin
Recipe:
❀ 1 cup pure fruit juice. I used 100% grape juice for this batch.
❀ 3 tablespoons raw and local honey
❀ 3 tablespoons gelatin
Method:
Add juice to a pot. Sprinkle gelatin over juice. Allow to "bloom" and sit for 5 minutes. Turn on stove to a low/medium heat . Allow to gently heat until gelatin melts. Whisk until well combined. Remove from heat and stir in raw honey. Pour into molds or any container (you can cut squares with a knife if you don't have shape molds) Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours before consuming. Store in the fridge. Enjoy!
