✨A few of my beauty secrets✨

Hi there,

Thank you for being here. To show my gratitude, I wanted to offer you some of my natural beauty tips for healthy, radiant skin.

✨A few of my beauty secrets✨

tip 1
Nutrients

We all know what we eat effects our skin and I have a whole post about "eating your skincare" on my instagram. But some of my favorite foods for beauty are:

1~ Kimchi/fermented foods. Healthy gut=healthy skin. The living bacteria (aka probiotics) in fermented foods help reduce inflammation in the gut as well as the skin, through what is known as the gut-skin axis.

2~ Seaweed. Seaweed is high in iodine which is important for skin health. It is also anti-inflammatory and has a high concentration of antioxidants which protect against free radicals and can help slow signs of aging.

3~ Bone broth. It's no secret I'm a huge advocate for bone broth. For many reasons, and skin health is definitely one of them. Bone broth contains minerals and amino acids that support skin and gut health. It's collagen, glycine, proline, and gelatin rich. And it's actually not just a new wellness fad, our ancestors have been making bone broth for centuries as they practiced nose to tail eating.

tip 2
Tallow Balm

Okay you might think I'm crazy for telling you to put beef fat on your face and body, but hear me out. Tallow is another thing that we can pay due credit to our ancestors. Tallow resembles our natural sebum so much that the literal translation of tallow in Latin is "sebum." It's great for most skin types. Tallow is high in vitamins A (retinol), D, E, and K. Vitamin E is especially helpful for aging since it has potent antioxidant properties that protect the skin cells from damaging UV light and reduce existing damage. I get my whipped tallow from a lady at my local farmer's market. There are also plenty of grass fed tallow balms on Etsy!

tip 3
Mineral Sunscreen

I love the sun. The sun is essential for our health and happiness. And we NEED vitamin D. But, I am someone who wears sunscreen everyday on my face, neck and chest (I should on my hands too). Our ozone layer is continuously depleting and sunscreen helps protect us from that. But what sunscreen to use? Some aren't so clean. I prefer mineral sunscreen to chemical. I have a tallow based zinc sunscreen that I loooove. Extensive research shows that sunscreen prevents premature aging and is one of the best things we can do to keep our skin looking youthful.

tip 4
Collagen Supplement

Good news! Collagen works! Lol. For awhile we weren't really sure of the effectiveness of collagen powders as a supplement but there is significant evidence now of the benefits of collagen for our skin. I actually did my final research on this in my clinicals class! Collagen is the main structural protein in the extracellular matrix found in the body’s connective tissues. It is the most abundant protein in the body! As we age, the body produces less collagen and existing collagen breaks down at a faster rate (this breakdown is also related to environmental stressors and our lifestyles). This shows up in the human body in a few ways, but as it relates to skin and outside appearance: loss of elasticity, wrinkled skin, less hydrated skin, and hallowing around the eyes and face. This is the reason many people (me included) have turned to a collagen supplement.

tip 5
Skin & Health Affirmations

This might sound a bit woo woo if you aren't super spiritual, so take what you need and leave the rest. But to me, energetics are everything. Your thoughts and beliefs are powerful. Our thoughts imprint specific frequencies into our body on a cellular level. Radiate positivity & gratitude and see how what you put out, mirrors back to you. Here are some examples of affirmations that I wrote out and stuck on my mirror to say to myself:

"I love my glowing & radiant skin"

"I am so grateful for the collagen building and multiplying in my face every single day"

"My body is strong and beautiful"

"I feel good"

I'd love to know if you end up implementing any of these tips and how they work for you. Let me know if you want a part two! I've got lots more free health and wellness resources coming your way so stick around and make sure to interact with me on Instagram and TikTok @willow.bronwen :)
